The story starts with ‘Bob’ sitting in a jail cell at the age of 30 years, with a 9 year old son and feeling hopeless. With crack cocaine being the choice of drug, along with heroin Bob found that his life was being completely consumed by his addiction.

Being between a rock and a hard place he was effectively forced to go into rehab as the lesser of evils, given a stark choice, go to rehab or stay under house arrest.

“I walked into my rehab center and thought I was in heaven. Coming straight from jail gave me a real sense of gratitude for even the little things. Like a real mattress and a cigarette. Real Coffee. The gratitude carried me at first, it gave me a positive attitude. Having gratitude changes things.

I sat there in the drug rehab center made friends, smiled and laughed. We had quite time at night and I used this time to read. I didn’t put time into choosing what I read, nobody asked me to read certain books.”

Today Bob is 6 years clean and very thankful. His route to getting clean was to rediscover a faith in God, having mended all his family relationships and talking to them on a daily basis.
